Kappa League

We invest in the personal development of young men in high school in our surrounding communities through our Kappa Leadership Development League. Throughout the year, we take the Kappa Leaguers on several college tours, attend youth symposiums and participate in community service activities in an effort to help them prepare for college and the workforce. Chapter members work as mentors to Kappa Leaguers, teaching them adult responsibilities such as time management, prioritizing and budgeting. In addition, we work with Kappa League seniors to search for qualified college scholarships and award them a book scholarship during their freshman year of college.

Achievement Gap Program

The Achievement Gap (AGP) program was created to facilitate the mentorship of low income and at-risk males in DeKalb County, Griffin-Spalding County and surrounding communities. The AGP program targets middle school and high school aged young men with less than stellar academic and behavior records in an effort to provide guidance and fellowship that will hopefully lead to mental progress, self-respect and academic growth.

Toys for Tots

During the holiday season, the Stone Mountain-Lithonia Alumni chapter collects toys for needy children. Each year, we select a children’s shelter to receive the donated toys we collect.

Holiday Baskets

Many families are unable to enjoy the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays to their fullest due to financial strains of basic living expenses, and may not be able to afford a holiday dinner. We organize baskets containing turkeys or hams and a variety of non-perishable canned goods – full dinners – for distribution to families within the Stone Mountain and Lithonia areas.

Senior Luncheon

Each year, during the holiday season, the Stone Mountain-Lithonia Alumni chapter serves a full Christmas dinner buffet to the senior citizens residing in the Friendly Heights apartment complex in Decatur, Georgia.

Little League Football

Stone Mountain-Lithonia Alumni Chapter has partnered with the Central DeKalb Jaguars Football Organization. The intent of this partnership is to extend the reach of mentorship by placing successful men at the disposal of the players to provide inspiration and preparation for life.  In 2017, chapter members began assisting in coaching the 6U (six-year-old age group) football team and will continue to follow this age group as they matriculate through the program. This has been a great opportunity to provide mentorship and guidance using athletics as a vehicle.
